Greg Lindy has shared a decade long relationship with Otis College of Art and Design as a faculty member. In his type design course, students complete a font consisting of upper and lower case, numerals and punctuation - essentially a functioning typeface. Students undergo a process of gathering reference material, sketching and finally, designing a digital font based on criteria they decide upon. In the end, the student creates a result that is surprising to its author as the font straddles the fence between utility and personal expression. Each year a poster is created to showcase the course work.
